About Biopsy

A biopsy is a vital procedure that involves the removal of a small sample of tissue or cells from the body for further examination under a microscope. This examination helps our experienced medical team in diagnosing and determining the nature of various diseases and conditions.

There are several types of biopsies performed at our center, each tailored to specific areas of the body and medical concerns:

  • Needle Biopsy: This type of biopsy involves the insertion of a thin, hollow needle into the target area to extract a tissue sample. Needle biopsies can be performed using imaging guidance, such as ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI, to ensure precise sample collection.
  • Core Biopsy: Core biopsies involve the removal of a small, cylindrical core of tissue using a larger needle. This type of biopsy is often used for breast, prostate, and soft tissue biopsies.
  • Endoscopic Biopsy: Endoscopic biopsies are performed during procedures like upper endoscopy or colonoscopy. An endoscope, a long, flexible tube with a camera, is inserted into the body to visualize the target area and collect tissue samples using small forceps.
  • Surgical Biopsy: Surgical biopsies are performed during surgery when a larger sample of tissue is needed. The surgeon removes the tissue during the surgical procedure for examination.
  • Excisional Biopsy: This type of biopsy involves removing an entire lump or suspicious area, including some surrounding healthy tissue. Excisional biopsies are commonly used for skin and breast tissue abnormalities.

Regardless of the biopsy type, the collected tissue or cell samples are sent to our advanced laboratory, where our skilled pathologists examine them under a microscope. This examination allows for a definitive diagnosis and provides valuable insights into the nature of the disease or condition.

At our Diagnostic Center, we understand the significance of biopsy results in guiding treatment decisions and providing personalized care to our patients. Our medical team is dedicated to ensuring a comfortable and safe biopsy experience, and we strive to deliver accurate and timely results to help you achieve optimal health and well-being. If you have any concerns or need a biopsy, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment with us.
